Well then, start to start ranting and raving about how the public are no-nothing idiots again. It's the Golden Joystick winners! Yaaaaaaaaaaay! I should point out that I've not even read through them yet; I've just copied from an article and about to paste it into post so I'm being pessimistic.
Without further ado, here are the winners!
* Action/Adventure Game of the Year
Assassin’s Creed II

*Reads through them all* All right, I'll agree with Street Fighter, World of Goo and Pokémon but the rest fit in with my original pessimism. How could FFXIII have the best soundtrack? It has Leona Lewis in it for Christ's sake and do they really need two separate shooter and FPS categories? At the risk of upsetting Killer French Bread there aren't too many scrolling shooters these days.
Darn that public!

I haven't played any of those games.
Why would that upset me? I'd love a few more. At least there are some good ones coming out still, though I'm not holding out much hope of Muchi Muchi Pork winning any awards next year.Kaito-kun wrote: At the risk of upsetting Killer French Bread, there aren't too many scrolling shooters these days.

Gah I do love the Joystick awards, purely because they dont have Vernon Kaye anywhere involved *shudder*
Some good & bads:
* Fighting Game of the Year
Super Street Fighter IV
This had to be a given, is anyone going to fight Blazblue's corner...?
* Portable Game of the Year
Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver
I'm a huge Pokémon fan but i'm not too sure if this was deserved...
* RPG of the Year
Mass Effect 2
interesting... not a JRPG? i'm not a huge fan of JRPG's but Dragonquest could of taken that, but i think thats a fair choice.
* FPS of the Year
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Bleh
* Racing Game of the Year
Forza 3
Of course! Forza is just to good.
* Shooter of the Year
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
lies.
* Soundtrack of the Year
Final Fantasy XIII
even more lies!!
* Ultimate Game of the Year
Mass Effect 2
Am I mistaken that Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out this year?
that's my two-cents, agree or disagree I think that the industry need these kinds of awards. I think it brings the industry closer to the recognition that games are indeed an art form.
