Chickaroo Reviews - Liberation Maiden (3DS)

Post by chickaroo1 »

New Tokyo’s president is a high school girl, and it’s being invaded by aliens! But hey, what else is new?Game: Liberation Maiden
Systems: Nintendo 3DS, iOS
Release Dates: 3DS: 10/4/12 (EU), 10/25/12 (NA), 11/14/12 (JP)
iOS: 3/7/13 (WW)
Developers: Level-5
Aliens!!
Story: New Tokyo’s president is Shoko Ozora, a high school girl whose father was assassinated so now she took over his role as president. One day she discovers that a form of aliens are attacking New Tokyo and are trying to steal the energy from it. And now it’s up to Shoko to save the day.
Flying Mech Girl
Gameplay: So the game is a bit of a shooter. Shoko can fly around in a mech suit. You can use the analog stick to fly and use the stylus to aim and shoot at the targets on the top screen. Just slide the stylus over which enemies to target. The more you target in one take, the more points you’ll earn. Shoko only has two weapons that she can use.
Levels are split up into little missions. Such as “destroy ___” and “blow up the enemy ships.” To finish a level, Shoko has to defeat a big tower thing that has the energy. Destroy the layers on the tower and you’re good to go.
Missions are timed but I doubt you’ll run out of time during them.
Flashy and Smooth
Graphics: The graphics are pretty good. They run smoothly and are nice and flashy to look at. The 2D sprites are also good to look at too.
Amped Up
Music: The music is okay at best. Not very catchy. But the game does offer a vocal track during the game’s final boss.
Music is composed by Basiscape.
Is It Worth The Saving?
Overall: Liberation Maiden is an okay game. It can be pretty satisfying to blow up enemies, but the game is very short. And it may not be worth to go back to it.
