Yet another Sonic 1 port is coming. This time to the Nintendo 3DS.
Just the other day I was saying we don't get enough Sonic the Hedgehog ports (the Mega Drive one, not the 2006 one). Right?!
SEGA don't care what you think. They're bringing the game that started it all to yet another system, the Nintendo 3DS. Remember when we told you about SEGA of Japan hinting at two other 3D classics (apart from Space Harrier and Super Hang-On) back in March? At the time, we suggested OutRun and AfterBurner could be getting the 3D treatment.
Turns out SEGA just revealed it's Sonic 1 that will get a 3D makeover. This doesn't seem like the HD remastered version previously announced for mobile platforms. However, it's got a few extras up its sleeve:
The game will be available from the 3DS eShop next week (May 15th) for 600 yen. No word on a Western release as of yet, but seeing as the other two 3D classics weren't even announced over here, seems likely we'll have to wait a bit longer for this one.
What are your thoughts on this? Was this new version needed? Sound off in the comments section below.
