This week on PnM, we're attempting something a bit different...
This week on Pick n' Mix, we're trying things a little bit differently. We're gonna be focusing on a genre of music typically known for its upbeat melodies, but it's most impressive feat is how it created such great music through limitation. Although it lives on through new artists, we'll mostly be celebrating the pioneers of chiptune on tonight's episode of Pick n' Mix, with some love thrown towards the new composers here and there.
In an attempt to add some variety to the mix, we'll be making sure to feature plenty of consoles, each with their distinct sounds, which means some fan favourite artists around the station will have their time in the sunlight. The rules of chiptune might get bent a bit, but my personal stance on it is if the sound is primitive in style and it doesn't have a lot of defined "real world" instruments, it's in. Some people personally exclude it to 8 bit, but my rules stretch the room to certain 16 bit soundtracks too. That means not much Mega Drive, but the Mega Drive songs that are there will be chiptune in sound!
There's plenty of room for requests, so if you've got something that you want to here, be sure to reach us through Twitter or send us a message on Discord!
Oh, and one last thing. We've also got some announcements, one of which is a "new" show. You'll see what I mean.
Come and get chippy with it this Friday at 7PM GMT, 8PM CET, 3PM EDT or 12PM PST!
